Mariela is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology and Sociology, Course Leader BA Criminology & Law within the School of Social Sciences at London Metropolitan University. Before her appointment as a full time SL, she was an Associate Lecturer at University of Greenwich and University of Roehampton. She is currently a PhD candidate at London Metropolitan University, her PhD is concerned prescription drugs illicit sale and use in US and UK online markets. Graduated from a Master of Arts in Psychosocial studies, from the Birkbeck College, University of London, looking at the impact of digitalisation of various aspects of life of unemployed women living in London on the wake of COVID-19. She undertook a Bachelor of Sciences in Criminology and Psychology from London Met; this research engaged with the then newly publish regulation of cannabis in Uruguay. Her current research includes substance misuse, drugs policy and related cybercrimes.
