Statement of Expertise and Interest
Dr. Varjas is a Professor in School Psychology and Director of the Center for Research on School Safety, School Climate, and Classroom Management (http://schoolsafety.education.gsu.edu/) at Georgia State University. Dr. Varjas current research efforts include school- and community-based projects investigating bullying, homophobic bullying, cyberbullying, and school climate. Dr. Varjas has received grants from the Center for Disease Control, U.S. Department of Education, the Office of Special Education and the Greater Good Science Foundation to support her work in investigating school climate, bullying prevention and intervention, mental health and positive behavior supports. She has published articles related to bullying/cyberbullying, victimization, bystander behavior and school safety in the Journal of School Violence, Journal of School Psychology, Journal of LGBT Issues in Counseling, Western Journal of Emergency Medicine, Professional School Counseling, and School Psychology Review.
